What is the voter experience like? What emails will I get, and what does the ballot look like?

Organizations choose BallotBoxOnline because our online voting solution is very easy to use, and is built on top of an industry-leading approach to protect the anonymity of the votes, and the integrity of the poll results.  We use asymmetric cryptography (with public/private key pairs) to protect the data in our database.  For more information about why you can be confident when you vote through BallotBox, please read this short support article.

If one of our customers invites you to vote, you will receive an email from BallotBox that looks like this:

When you click the Vote button in this email, a web browser will open to a page that looks like this:

By clicking the blue Vote button, you will be taken directly to your ballot.  For example, here is a sample ballot page:

If the ballot has multiple pages, there will be controls at the bottom of each page to move forward and backward through the ballot.

At the end of the ballot, you can Review Answers.  There is also an option to Finish Later.

If you click Finish Later, BallotBox will ask you for a password so we can encrypt your partial ballot in our database:

BallotBox will also send you an email to remind you to come back later to finish casting the ballot:

If you click Review Answers, BallotBox will show you what choices were selected throughout the ballot.

Next to each choice, there will be a link back to that particular question, making it easy for you to correct any choices you have made:

In addition, if you make any errors -- such as selecting four candidates when the question only allows three to be selected, BallotBox will help you correct the error by adding a message (such as Specify at most 3 choices) next to that question, by changing the Review Answers button so that it includes a yellow "alert" triangle  --

-- and by highlighting the first question that has an error if you press the Review Answers button before correcting the mistake.

When you are finished reviewing your answers, you will click the Cast Ballot button.

You will see on screen that the ballot was recorded, and you will get an email confirming that.
